Part 1

Public Right of Way application

We are submitting an application for a Map Modification Order to Surrey County Council. If granted, this would establish a Public Right of Way on High Trees Road between Ringley Park Avenue and Chart Lane to ensure the road remains open to the public for future generations.

This is a lengthy and time-consuming process, but a key part of it is demonstrating that we've had uninterrupted access for decades.

We do this by providing as many User Evidence Forms as possible to support the application. These forms demonstrate to SCC that the road was open to the public until the sinkhole appeared.

You can help us by completing a User Evidence Form.

Part 2

Fix the sinkhole

Surrey County Council have powers under the Highways Act to insist that the sinkhole in the road is fixed.

There are multiple parts to this but an example is Section 230 of the Highways Act 1980 states that the 'street works authority' (ie. SCC has the power to order the frontagers to carry out repairs to a private or unadopted road, which are "needed to obviate danger to traffic".

We believe this legislation applies to High Trees Road, and we are speaking with SCC to try and make this happen.

Part 3

Donate to support our work

Some of the things that we're doing as part of this campaign cost money. For example, the website costs money to host, we need to take some legal advice and we do lots of printing of User Evidence Forms.

If you can and would like to support the Campaign through a donation, it would be very much appreciated! All money raised will be used for this campaign, and anything left over will be donated to local charities.
